I too would like to read Gone Girl, as the film was really good! I am working my way through The Great Initiates, a classic by Edouard Shure (it's not heavy!) and am about to dive into Antidote by Karen Russell. I read an excerpt from it on substack and the writing is superb and original. It's a big hardback book, but it should carry me thru the summer.
Hi Penney! The interiority of the Gone Girl book is soooo good, razor sharp — I bet you would love it! I haven't heard of The Great Initiates, will definitely have to check that out, as well as Antidote — yay for big, meaty books for summer :D
Have you heard of Jodi Piccoult's By Any Other Name? I also loved that one . . . based on a lot of real research that suggests that many of Shakespeare's plays were written by a woman (scandalous to even say that in some circles): https://a.co/d/0aTOIpv
