Now let’s examine the next energizer (or not) in our Strengthscope series . . .
💪 Strengthscope Deep Dive: Enthusiasm
Is enthusiasm an energizer or a drainer for you?
🔋 If enthusiasm energizes you, you naturally demonstrate passion and energy when communicating goals, beliefs, interests, or ideas you feel strongly about. You find it easy to advocate for things you believe in, and other people often tell you how easy it is for them to see what you enjoy. It might drain you or cause stress to be in situations where you have to be buttoned up and emotionally-restrained.
Who annoys you: People who never appear to get excited about anything. They remain dispassionate and show little enthusiasm and energy, even when communicating beliefs, ideas or views they feel strongly about. They might come across as apathetic, indifferent, or overly cool to you.
Who is annoyed by you: People who are more dispassionate, cautious or cool-headed may find your behavior too emotional, overwhelming or overzealous at times. Your enthusiasm could also leave them feeling that their views and ideas are being steamrollered by the intensity of your emotional energy and drive.
🥵 When in overdrive: Your enthusiasm can be seen as too emotive or overwhelming at times, making others feel that their views are not valued or appreciated.
🪫 If enthusiasm is a drainer for you: It may be difficult for others to sense your interest for a proposal or point of view, as you do not readily show enthusiasm.
Reframe it by reflecting: When do I get enthusiastic about something? What gives me the energy to convey excitement when needed?
